Isopach
A Isopach map displays the thickness of a object with the use of contour lines over the area. The thickness of the area is measured perpendicularly to measure the layer boundaries.
DRG (digital raster graphic)
DRG’s are scanned and digitalized geo-referenced USGS topographic maps. Each DRG contains 13 different colors and comes in many different formats.
DLG ( digital line graph)
A DLG is a cartographic map that is distributed by the U.S Geological survey. The DLG contains several different factors such as boundaries , roads, trails, and railroads.
Correlation Matrix
Correlation matrixes are tables that demonstrate correlated coefficients among other data in different timeframes. The correlation matrix has random variables and coefficients that make up its data.
Similarity Matrix
Similarity matrix demonstrate the similarity between the numbers of data points. Similarity matrixes are used to find clusters of data points and to align sequences of DNA.

Propaganda maps are maps that are used to persuade viewers. Commonly used to invoke feeling like fear or patriotism.
Dot Distribution Map
Dot distribution maps are a highly effective way to show density over a landscape. They are helpful to see where things clump over a vast area of land.
Starplot
Doppler Radar

Doppler Radar is radar the uses the Doppler effect to provide data. The model above gives an enhanced view of a hurricane making landfall.
Isohyets
Isohyets are lines that are drawn to connect areas that receive the same amount of rainfall over a particular time period.
Isopleth
Isopleth maps generalize data that is normally displayed in a third dimension. In this example the data that is being displayed is the amount of deaths caused by H1N1.
Stem and Leaf plot
http://shannonandbarb.weebly.com/february-6-2011.html
Stem and leaf plots are used to demonstrate frequency. The stem and leaf plot is a table where each data value is split on either side of the table.
Box Plot
A box plot depicts groups of numerical data through there quartiles. Some boxes may have lines, also known as whiskers that display variability and several different components to better display the data found.
Histogram
http://arhiva.elitesecurity.org/t455707-Kako-da-napravim-ostru-fotografiju-pri-duzim-ekspozicijama
A histogram is a graph that demonstrates the distribution of data.the data is displayed on the graph with the use of boxes or squares and mostly used to plot the density of data.
Triangular plot
A triangular plot Is a graph in the form of a triangle with three components. The triangular plot shows the composition of solids and rocks, and is also used to show the compositions of systems made up of three different species.
Wind Rose
A Wind Rose is a tool used by meteorologist used to test the wind speed in different areas and the direction in which it goes. The wind rose is usually in a circular format that resembles a compass but has measurements and degrees.
Climograph
A climograph is a graph that represents the climate in specific areas such as the monthly temperature and the precipitation that the area receives.
Planimetric map
http://www.spatialdc.com/projects/hospitals.htm
Planimetric maps are maps that show only horizontal positions of geographical features without any use of elevation. they commonly display man-made objects land and bodies of water.
Populaiton profile
A population profile is a chart showing the number of people within a specific area. The chart has a x and y axis and data is displayed in the form of bars stacked on top of one another.
Scatterplot
A scatterplot displays data of two variables with the use of points to create a linear correlation. The scatterplot contains a x and y axis and each dot represents data.
Accumulative line graph, or Lorenz curve
An Accumulative line graph or Lorenz Curve is a graph that displays proportion distribution. It is often used to represent income distribution or income inequality.
Bilateral graph

A bilateral graph displays to more sets of related sets of data visually with the use of bar graphs, line graphs, or as a histogram. Bilateral graphs can have bars set side by side or somewhat apart to display the comparison of data.
Nominal area choropleth map
This map averages real data and use different colors and patterns to distinguish between specific areas and reigons. These maps can have multiple sections of data in which are specifically color coordinaded.
Unstandardized choropleth maps
http://www.directionsmag.com/articles/choropleth-mapping-with-exploratory-data-analysis/123579
A Unstandardized choropleth map is a map that thematic that displays data sets with shading and coloring. Instead average data, this map uses numerical value.
Standardized choropleth maps
Standardized choropleth maps allow comparison of distribution between common areas of different sizes. This map uses percentages to better compare areas from one another.
Flow Maps
Flow maps are maps the show the movement of objects over time some examples are of, migration and also transportation.
Statistical Map
Statistical map are maps that uses geographical area to indicate a factor and variation in quantity. In this example the map displays time spent traveling to work across the country.
Thematic Maps
Thematic maps has a root of theme which insinuates that each particular thematic map has its own theme. Major differences from general maps are they do not usually display natural features.
Univariate Choropleth maps
Univariate choropleth maps contain only one variable unlike the bivariate choropleth maps. This map is much easier to read and understand. Although multiple colors are used as well, the single variable used makes the classification of data simpler.
Bivariate choropleth maps
Bivariate choropleth maps are used to combine two datasets into one map. This map consists of variables that display how much they exist in each enumeration unit and are also more difficult to read due to the usage of multiple colors.
Cartographic Animation
Cartographic animation is an animated map that is primarily used to show changes over time either at extreme speed or over extremely slow periods of time.
Unclassed Choropleth maps
http://imgarcade.com/1/choropleth-map-of-africa/
Unclassed choropleth maps are used when as less filtered view of data is wanted shown on the map or when classification of data becomes too difficult to sort. Each sample of data contains specific colors to depict the difference from others but yet still can appear to be confusing to the reader.
Classed Choropleth maps
Classed choropleth is used when we need to attach enumeration units, to show rates or ratios, and overall geographic patterns. This map make it easier for the reader to identify specific from the map.
Continuously variable proportional circle map
